I am Sub Dean and Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. My research focuses on topics in both philosophy of mind and action, and 20th century philosophy (especially Wittgenstein, Merleau-Ponty, and Murdoch). Fundamentally, I am interested in what makes us agents. I am currently thinking about the nature of our agency as it relates to our responsiveness to meanings and our engagement with technology. Through my work, I am keen to show the continuing relevance on these issues of a number of 20th century philosophers (most notably Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Iris Murdoch, and Ludwig Wittgenstein). |
